2. Host a fundraiser
Want to help but can't tutor? Organize a simple fundraiser with the proceeds supporting Chicago Family Directions. Many of the home parties/classes (Pampered Chef, PartyLite Candles, Creative Memories, etc.) allow hostesses to donate the profits from their party/class to an organization. Chicago Family Directions is a 501(c)3 charity and the funds would be used directly for tutoring expenses. For more information, contact Melanie Murphy.
3. Volunteer your talents
It takes a lot of people and many talents to run a successful organization and reach as many children as possible. If you have time to give and internet access, Chicago Family Directions could use your help. Maybe you have experience with marketing/PR, volunteer recruiting/organizing, web design, accounting, grant writing, social media or you would like to get experience and help in one of these areas. If you have a little time to share and want to help children in temporary living situations, contact Melanie Murphy for more information.
Sponsor a class
With budgets tight and government funding dwindling, schools need the community to help fund after school programs and educate our future workforce - we all have a social responsibility to give back to our communities and children. Sponsoring a class is easy and very rewarding.
By sponsoring a class, your corporation will see the direct benefits of your generosity. From beginning of the year to end of year class test scores, letters from the children and feedback from teachers and parents, to opportunities to read to the children and structure events, your organization has many opportunities to see the growth in the class.
If your corporation sponsors the same class from year to year through high school, additional rewarding experiences may include, work site mentoring, field trips, job training, and even scholarships. The possibilities are up to you.
Your corporate logo will be placed on our website, Facebook page, annual report and letterhead to parents, teachers and community.
Sponsorship Commitment: $2,500 per year and five volunteers on Tuesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m., for one school year
